Matthew is the managing director of Hellier McFarland and has worked for the company for the entirety of his professional career, having commenced employment with the company as a graduate in 2001.
Matthew enjoys the responsibility of providing leadership and direction to ensure that the company maintains and grows its reputation as an innovative and reliable professional practice, whilst also placing equal importance on ensuring that everyone that works within the company is provided with a challenging, enjoyable and rewarding work environment.
Matthew holds tertiary qualifications in both land surveying and town planning and has a breadth of experience with coordinating development projects ranging from urban renewal, mixed use and residential buildings to greenfield, peri-urban and rural land subdivision. Matthew also provides expert evidence and advocacy for VCAT appeals and mediations, and for covenant matters in the Supreme Court.
When he is not working Matthew enjoys playing on the monkey bars with his three young children, and mastering his culinary skills in the kitchen. If he wasn't working in the property development industry Matthew would be head chef of a gastro pub somewhere in rural Victoria, or lying on a deck chair in the Maldives.
